Applications will be accepted at the Work Force Center for a FOUR-YEAR ELECTRICAL APPRENTICESHIP Monday thru Friday excluding holidays. A $25.00 (non-refundable) Application Fee (money order only, payable to W.E.J.A.T.C.) is required and due at application time.


All information required below must be in within 45 days after application date. This information must remain in the Electrical Training Center’s files and will not be returned.

All Applicants must fully meet the following minimum requirements to qualify for an interview:

A) Must be at least 17 years of age at application, 18 years of age at time of selection and indenture.

B) Must be a High School Graduate or have a G.E.D., or have a two-year Associate Degree or higher.

C) Must have completed, with a passing grade, either one full year of High School Algebra I or one post-High School Algebra course. We have an online course that will help meet this requirement, please contact the training center for information about the online math course.

D) Must provide an Official Transcript(s) for High School and post-High School courses and grades.

E) Must achieve a qualifying score, “4” or higher, on the Electrical Trade’s Aptitude test. This test was developed by the American Institute for Research.

F) Must submit a DD-214 to verify Military Training and/or experience if you are a Veteran and wish to receive consideration for such training/experience.

G) Must provide evidence of having a valid Driver’s License and Birth Certificate.

H) Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the trade. Applicants who are selected may be required to provide the results of a physical examination and a drug test.

I) Individuals who can verify (proper documentation required) that they have worked a minimum of (4,000) hours specifically in the Electrical Construction trade, do not need to meet the requirements of items (B) and (C).

J) Individuals who have worked a minimum of (4,500) hours as a Residential Wireman under an IBEW/NECA Local Collective Bargaining Agreement (proper documentation required), do not need to meet the requirements of items (B) and (C).

K) Individuals who have completed at least 3 years of Related Instruction and 4,500 hours of OJT as indentured apprentices in a properly registered Electrical Construction Apprenticeship Program not sponsored by IBEW/NECA (proper documentation required), do not need to meet the requirements of items (B) and (C).

The J.A.T.C. Committee will interview each applicant who meets all the above basic requirements. Interview notices will be sent to the address shown on the application unless this office is notified of a change of address. Applicants will be selected as Apprentices in order of their ranking resulting from the rating of the interviews and their aptitude test score. Applicants not selected will be placed on a 2-year book according to their interview scores.

Applicants selected to enter the new Apprenticeship class, WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUPPLY A RECORD SHOWING NEGATIVE RESULTS OF A DRUG AND/OR ALCOHOL ABUSE TEST AT THE TIME AND PLACE DESIGNATED BY THE J.A.T.C. COMMITTEE.
